University of Memphis Head Coach Schoenrock Reaches 250th Career Coaching Win

Axe Bat would like to congratulate AXE exclusive Head Coach Daron Schoenrock from the University of Memphis on his 250th career coaching win! On Tuesday, February 25th, the Memphis Tigers defeated the Belmont Bruins 2-1 at FedExPark, giving Coach Schoenrock his milestone win.

In 2004, Daron Schoenrock was hired as the University of Memphis Head Baseball Coach. In just his second campaign coaching at Memphis, Coach Schoenrock led the Tigers to a 32-win season. Since coming to the University of Memphis, he has brought in three nationally-ranked recruiting classes, with 12 Tigers drafted and 13 signing pro deals. Regarded as one of college baseball’s premier pitching coaches, he has coached 86 players who have gone on to sign professional baseball contracts.

His impact has reached players both on and off the field. In his first year with Memphis, his team recorded the program’s highest GPA ever. In the fall of 2010, the Tigers again reached a program-high GPA of 3.278 and have consistently held a GPA of 3.0 or higher since.

Schoenrock is currently in his 10th season as Head Coach of the Memphis baseball team. Last year, the Tigers had the program’s seventh 30-win season. Not only did Coach Schoenrock lead his team to its best winning percentage (.593) since 1994 with a 35-24 record, he was also named the Keith LeClair Coach of the Year.

The Memphis Tigers are currently 7-1 for the 2013-2014 season.
