Softball Star Danielle Lawrie Signs Multi-Year Extension with Baden Sports
Two-time national player of the year to continue developing and promoting Axe™ fastpitch softball bats, balls and accessories
RENTON, Wash. (April 29, 2014) – Baden Sports, Inc., today announced that Danielle Lawrie, a two-time national player of the year and current professional softball player, has signed a multi-year endorsement contract. The agreement ensures Lawrie will continue providing input and expertise to the development of quality, fastpitch softball products, including her signature line of Axe bats, softballs and headbands. Lawrie first signed with Baden in 2010 following a decorated career at the University of Washington.
“Everything Baden does is about improving the quality of the game for the player,” Lawrie said. “I’m excited to be continuing my work with them and am looking forward to collaborating on the next generation of Axe bats and fastpitch products.”
Lawrie, one of the most dominant players in college history, earned back-to-back USA Softball Collegiate Player of the Year honors in 2009-10, and led the Huskies to their first national championship in 2009. She still holds numerous school records as a pitcher, including career marks for wins, shutouts, strikeouts and innings pitched. Lawrie, from Langley, British Columbia, also played for the Canadian National Team in the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing. This season will be her fourth as a member of the USSSA Pride of the National Pro Fastpitch League (NPF) in Kissimmee, Fla.
“We are committed to developing products that make the game better and allow players to perform at their highest levels,” said Michael Schindler, CEO, Baden Sports. “Danielle understands the depth and importance of this commitment. She’s a champion and a winner, and we’re excited for her to continue playing an important role on the Baden team.”
One of Lawrie’s main areas of focus will be the Axe Bat, a new and innovative bat for softball and baseball that features an oval-shaped lower handle and an angled knob. A recent study proved the patented, ergonomic shape of the Axe Bat offers players better bat control and acceleration, while decreasing the risk of hand and nerve injury, compared to traditional bats with round knobs and handles. The Axe Bat fastpitch lineup includes Lawrie’s signature bat and the new Avenge, a top-of-the-line, two-piece composite bat. Both have been approved for play at all youth, high school, and collegiate levels.
Lawrie also will be writing weekly blog posts on the Axe Bat website, www.axebat.com, and appearing at select camps and clinics nationwide.
